Off to a Rotten Start!

Spoiled Rotten that is! Little Critter isn't much bigger than an English Pea, and is already creating quite a stir around the house! We've already got several little things to put in a book for him or her.
This is us the day we found out about the Little Critter. Somehow every time there is a big event in our life we end up on Mom & Dad's porch. It's where we had our 1st kiss, where Jon proposed, where I took a couple of my bridal pictures with our 1st dog Sasha, and now our 1st picture as expecting parents!

Look at the loot! OU Sooner baby bedding & mobile! OU booties & hat! Dallas Cowboy booties! Converse tennis shoe socks! Special bottles & dummies for breast fed babies. Jewel's Lullaby album! A Pooh photo album & keepsake box (Thank you Big Mama & Daddy Doc!) I got the onesie with his or her first Pooh (I love Pooh! & Little Critter does too ;) ) Jon got the book from our dear friend Ms. Diann Rankin (He's actually reading it!)

The books are a combination of mine & Jon's childhood collections that our parents have given us. Jon gave me the 3 Wonder Pets in my Easter basket because we're always singing the Wonder Pet song, and as he said, "It doesn't matter if we have a girl or boy because most kids love the Wonder Pets!"

Cotton Candy

I love cotton candy, don't you? I wish it was time for the Texas state fair in Dallas, because I'd have to head over to Fair Park, and get myself a bag of it. For some reason their cotton candy is always perfect. It doesn't have sticky lumps, or hard crusty clumps of sugar in it. It is just like eating a pink cloud. Two of my favorite recent discoveries are related pink cotton candy.

I may be one of the last people to finally try it, but I've found the most delicious smelling perfume ever! It's from Italy & it's called Pink Sugar by Aquolina, it isn't too strong & it doesn't smell like kiddy play perfume. I've worn it when I've been out and about the past week, and had strangers ask me what I was wearing. One woman what was checking out my purchase at the store said I smelled like Heaven! Now that is a pretty high compliment, so if you're up for something new this spring, give it a try.

As you know I paint, and I love to look at other artists work. This week I stumbled across the work of William or "Will" Cotton. All I can say is Incredible! His painting look like photographs they are so good! If you're interested you should visit his website http://www.willcotton.com/ I especially love his cotton candy cloud girls.

I was so inspired that I painted my own 30 x 24 inch cotton candy clouds. This layer has to dry before I can add more definitions or paint anything else in them. I just haven't decided who or what it is that I'm going to add in them.

A Water Bobble??

You guys have got to give this thing a try. My mom got a set of Water Bobbles & gave Jon & I each one of them. She decided to give them a try when she saw something about it on the Food Network. Anyone that lives in Texarkana would agree that our water tastes awful! I live in an older house with copper water lines, so our water is disgusting! We have a big water cooler in our kitchen that we drink from. I was a little skeptical about whether the Bobble would really do that much, so I came home to put it to the test. It's like waving a magical wand! Nasty water goes in, and yummy clean water comes out! I know it uses a carbon filter just like the pitcher things, but sometimes you want something on the go. This thing is going to be awesome for sports & when you want your water with you while you're out and about. It is supposed to be good for up to 300 clean bottles of water. Each one is about $8 if you buy them individually, and the carbon refills come in packs of 2 for $5. Add it all up, and you get 900 clean bottles of water for $13. That is less than 2cents per bottle! I'm loving this idea because not only do you get clean water in a cool sports bottle, but it is eco-friendly, & money saving. I'm sure there are quite a few places that sell them, but I found them on Amazon.com

Some of the Best things are British

You have to hand it to the English, some of the coolest things are British. Their accents are 10 times prettier than ours. They have some awesome architecture.

Super Cool Cars. Even their Cabs are awesome!
They definitely beat us out when it comes to the Television & Music industry.

They have the Best Place to shop & the coolest designers.

They even have the Best children's stories.

The only thing they can't hold a candle to is our FOOD ;) Americans, especially Southerners have some of the best food on earth. We have Cajun, TEX-MEX, & all things Fried! Anyways, that was my Random blog entry for the day, talk to you soon!

Eclectic

I really love looking at other people's decorating styles, & I admire the Scandanavian style all white clean crisp home, but I think that it would make me crazy. I have always had a love for color & lots of it! When I see something I like for my house, I don't ever worry too much about whether it will match. I like what I like, and sooner or later it will all fit together. I guess that's the eccentric eclectic artist in me talking. (pictured above) Ralphie likes my colorful plaid winter quilt & the tissue paper that was in my Valentine's bag from Jon.

This box reminds me of my trip to Europe with pictures from Paris, Rome, & London on it.

These muy fantastico silouette book ends were my latest splurg at Target.
As a little girl Garfield was my FAVORITE cartoon & I was obsessed with him. My mom got these when I was still young & they were always in her kitchen until about a year ago. Now they live on my kitchen countertop.

For some reason I think this little cow creamer is the epitomy of classic kitchen heritage. I don't know why, but the moment I saw this little thing I had to have it.

This little picture has always been a motto of mine... If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change the way you look at it! I'm always changing things up a bit here and there. With the help of a box of butterfly wallies, a bright shower curtain, & shuffling a few things around in the house my bathroom is now a bright butterfly theme.

I hope you have all had a wonderful fun Valentine's Day with the ones you love. My sweetie got me flowers, a balloon, chocolates, & a couple other cute little things, but my main present was the Pandora Wedding Cake Charm. I was not expecting it, but I have really liked that charm for a while, so I was very excited. I can't stop long, I'm off to set up with helping my mom photograph a wedding tonight :) Hugs & Kisses to you all !!

A Christmas Carol

My favorite book of all time is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. It was originally published in 1843, but somehow this story has stood the test of time with a message that is as vital today as it was when it was first printed. I remember my dad reading this story to my mom, sister, and me when I was young. Since then I've read it at least 5 more times. I've seen most of the movie versions including animated, real, and puppet. They are all really good, but believe it or not I think my favorite version is the Muppet version with Kermit the frog.

My favorite part of the story is when Bob Cratchit has just returned home from church with tiny Tim, and his wife Martha asks him how Tim behaved.

"As good as gold," said Bob, "and better. Somehow he gets thoughtful, sitting by himself so much, and thinks the strangest things you ever heard. He told me, coming home, that he hoped the people saw him in church, because he was a cripple, and it might be pleasant to them to remember upon Christmas Day, who made lame beggars walk, and blind men see."

I'm sorry folks, it just doesn't get any better than that. No wonder Scrooge was so touched! How can anyone create a better character that so much embodies what we should be mindful of at Christmas and throughout the year!

Our family had a great Christmas, I hope yours did too.

It's Football time in Oklahoma!!

On my birthday weekend we got to go to one of my favorite places... Norman, OK to cheer for my Sooners. My cousin Paul who's actually more like a brother got to come with Mom & me to the OU vs. Colorado game. We had a lot of fun, & of course you know we had to eat at Ted's Escondido. If you're ever in the OKC or Norman, you've got to eat at Ted's. They have excellent Fajitas & Queso :) I've been on the road a lot lately, & we're off again this weekend. We're going to see the Big 12 Championship at Dallas Cowboy Stadium, and Jon is taking the day off so he can come too! Jon works 6 days a week, and very rarely takes off. He did take off 2 days for our anniversary, he was off on Thanksgiving day, & now he's off this Saturday... I've been very happy getting to have him with me lately.
