Easter Recap

My sister Jordan got to come in for a few days before Easter, so we had to do a few fun/festive things :)

We each painted a Pair of TOMSJordan, Josh, Mom, Jon, & I dyed Easter eggs. Aren't they the brightest, most fabulous you've ever seen ;)

We also got a pedicure, which was a very unpleasant experience for me. Seriously! I always end up with some oriental GUY that either pulls out a potato peeler or a cheese grater & goes after my foot like it is a hunk of Parmesan cheese! Really my feet aren't that bad, by the time he was finished my feet were as tender as the skin of a grape. I made the mistake of walking 2 fast miles the next day & got two really big blisters. I might have whined about it a little.... I might have made the statement that I am not going back to one of those torture parlors for the rest of the summer... Jon, being the sweetheart that he is got me a Migi nail art kit for my Easter basket so that "the mean nail men" can't hurt me anymore ;)

Fabric Rosettes

I've been seeing these things all over the internet, and I love how they looks, so today Mom and I tried our hand at making them. I'm going to put these on necklaces, pins, and I might stick a couple on one of my headbands... The possibilities are endless! I managed to make 18 today, not bad for a beginner!

Sylvia Strikes Again

Those of you who have been following should remember the brooch bouquets I did, and the fabulous picture of me in my finest Sylvia Weinstock glasses, but in case you don't or you're just joining, then click on the my June posts and read the entry titled Mom's Brooch Bouquet. Well the inner "Sylvia" has struck again. Check out what I made tonight! While cleaning I discovered this bag of silk butterflies. Most of them had messed up broken wings, but with a little hot glue and TLC I think I've been able to revive most of them.
I hope you like them :) They're so bright and colorful that it makes me happy just looking at them. Oh speaking of Happy this is a new art book that I got yesterday by Romero Britto. I also got another Art book about New Mexico Artists I love this piece called The Daydreamer by Miguel Martinez

Here is a painting I did a couple days ago. It is acrylic, and the picture is simply something I came up with when I started painting. The most enjoyable part was doing the sunset. It was more for fun than anything else. As you can tell it is not a very technical piece.

Mom's brooch bouquet

Well I've been at it again, this time it only took me 4 1/2 hours to put together. Here's a hint to anyone that wants to do one... Clip-on earrings work wonderfully, and are so much easier than the pins. There are only about 3 clip-on earrings in each bouquet, but they are so much easier. Plus, it is usually less expensive if you are making more than one. I decided to try a little different shape this time. Instead of circular I chose to put this together as a long rectangle. Mom has a dresser with a long mirror above it in her bedroom, and I think this shape will work out perfect for her to put the bouquet in the middle of the dresser.

Here are the two side by side "so happy together." Some of our pins are the same, some are different, but it doesn't really matter because they are going to be in different houses.

I think I've discovered my inner Sylvia Weinstock!
(If you don't know who she is, then I suggest you go watch a few episodes of Platinum Weddings. Her cakes cost more than a car! I personally think people are nuts to waste that much money on a cake. It's made of eggs, flour, sugar, water. I'm just jealous that I can't come up with something that would have that big of profit margin.)

See what I mean! LOL! (I found these jewels the other day while cleaning out some stuff at Mom's) Wow! I think ole' Sylvia and I might be related.

Brooch Bouquet

I'm not the first, and I know I'm not the only person who has ever seen the beautiful bridal brooch bouquets that have been making the rounds in blogville, and thought "cutiful why didn't I think of that." In fact my future sister in law is going to carry one for her bouquet in her's and David's (Jon's brother) wedding next year. Most of the brooch bouquets I've seen are for brides, but I think they are a really cool way to add a dash of color in any room of your house, and they give new life to old obselete junk jewelry that no one is planning on wearing. So if you're already married, and you're reading this wondering if you could make one even though it isn't a bridal bouquet, I say go for it! My Mom & I decided it would be a lot of fun for each of us to make one to put in our houses. At first I was thinking "centerpiece for the formal dining room table," but now I'm leaning more towards putting it in my bedroom where I'll see it all the time. Mom had tons of old pins and button covers which put us off to a good start (almost half of each of our bouquets). I bought some earrings, fancy buttons, and pins here and there, with a $4 max per pin rule. I'm not finished wiring and wrapping all of my pins yet, but here is what I've put together so far (a little over half), I will add more pics when the project is complete ;) I'll also post a pic or two of Mom's.

Just Another Reason

Why EVERY animal wants to be a Trammell animal, and why Jon and I are perfect for eachother. The stupid memory card kept erasing itself so I lost the pictures of us painting this thing. As any cat person will know... cats love boxes. We have had this cardboard box sitting on top of our big red chest in the living room since January, and Jon has wanted me to do something artsy to it since Mom brought it over for our big o' baby boy Zip. There are 3 reasons for this: 1. I think being fellow OCD person the cardboard just bothered him. 2. Zipper is his cat- they have "Man Time" together watching the Rangers, the Cowboys, and any sort of OU Sooner Sport we can find on TV. So he wanted to pimp his little buddy's box. 3. He's always encouraging me with my art- if I had a notion to paint the ceilings like the Vatican he'd go get me a scaffold. He's also always pushing me to paint this or paint that (I'm just a couple hours away from finishing the mural in the entry way, and I will post pics when it is complete, but I need the pollen to settle down so I can open the front door, and sit there to finish it).

No it is not the most ornate thing I've ever done, but hey it's a cardboard box, and the cat is going to sleep in it. It was a lot of fun getting Jon to help me with it. We each painted two sides of it. When Mom called me tonight, and asked what we were up to, she died out laughing when I told her. Yes, we are crazy, but that's what makes life fun. You never know what we're going to do next.
